Each pebble in this work is a tiny part of New Zealand. I found them on a beach on the south coast of the South Island. They are washed up there after a journey lasting millennia, starting off as rocks broken from the mountains by the forces of erosion, washed by streams and rivers down to the sea, where they are pounded, swirled and tumbled by the waves and finally they end up as smooth round pebbles on this particular beach.
I have drilled holes in the stones, but have not altered the shape, A silver crochet tube completes the necklace. Earrings consist of one pebble each on a silver hoop.
